SEASIDE SOIREE - THE LOVE OF SHELLS

Here in the States, Memorial Day kicks off the official beach break of the summer months ahead. It is an opportune time to peruse the shore for nature's tumbled beauty.

Seashell jewelry has an ancient past and is of great importance in archeology and anthropology. In fact, shell beads are the oldest form of jewelry known, dating back over one hundred thousand years. As well as sea snail shells, modern shellcraft jewelry sometimes incorporates whole clams and tusk shells. Others are made from parts of shells, including the layer known as mother of pearl.

Inspired by the Spring 2019 seashells spotted in runway accessories, here is A little something® from the artisan jewelry collection. All these one-of-a-kind necklaces feature real seashells mixed with a variety of accents - handmade lampwork glass, rhinestones, faceted crystal, and carved stone.
